An outstanding commitment to craftsmanship, embedded in the unique fabric of Caulfield.

PART ONE - ARCHITECTURE
An elegant design embedded in the fabric of the neighbourhood.

Born from a deep appreciation for traditional craftsmanship, Fabric is set to establish a new architectural benchmark in Caulfield. Born from refined yet texturally rich materials, the facade draws on maritime engineering principles to present a timeless and highly sophisticated composition with strong connections to nature.

An ode to traditional design and modern artistry.

At once innately classic and visually bold, Fabric presents a building of authentic and enduring quality. Embracing symmetrical proportions, the architectural form references the inverted hull of a ship with its elegant curved edges and strong linear dimensions. The floating upper level has been set back from the street to evoke a sense of depth whilst reducing the bulk of the building. Pure and sophisticated, the palette pays homage to the historic architectural character of the neighbourhood – composed of honest, organic materials that stand the test of time. A memorable arrival experience has been curated at the entrance with the inclusion of an exquisitely appointed lobby transitioning through to the residences. Verdant landscaping has been designed into the facade to create a building that breathes, fostering tranquillity and vitality.

“Abiding by the principles of art and design, Fabric’s architectural language as it emerges from the street employs symmetry and composition to cultivate an enduring elegance.”

Architecture Statement

“Fabric is a distilled reflection of its urban geography with an architectural language cultivated to knit the building into the streetscape whilst establishing its relevance for future high-density liveability. Two distinct architectural volumes address complementary yet disparate dialogues to activate Caulfield’s dynamic public realm whilst nurturing a welcoming ambience and resident privacy through the considered use of form and materiality.

Across its lower volume, the building adopts the narrative of its suburban context with a pale brick facade which forms a robust foundation, anchoring Fabric within the narrative of its established neighbourhood and bestowing a strong sense of place. Abiding by the principles of art and design, Fabric’s architectural language as it emerges from the street employs symmetry and composition to cultivate an enduring elegance.

Gently scalloped curves at the centre seam draw navigation into and through the building from the ground floor street front where commercial tenancies are intentionally transparent and welcoming.

The upper volume of the building has been conceived in direct juxtaposition to the sculptural lines and softness of the lower volume. Constructed from heavily tinted glazing, the pared-back nature of its materiality renders a perception of a much smaller building, reducing its presence and giving the allusion of continuation with the rooflines of surrounding buildings. This sense of harmony is further amplified by the reflection of sky by day and the cinematic appearance of the building by night when it radiates with a diffused glow”.

“With a language that finds its strength in a consistent dedication to aesthetic simplicity alongside unwavering attention to detail, homes cultivate an atmosphere that feels familiar and comfortable without eschewing luxury.”

Interwoven with Lush Landscaping.

Fabric is underpinned by a biophilic design philosophy which seeks to connect building occupants more closely to nature, improving wellbeing and sustainability levels. Afforded with lush private terraces, communal gardens and abundant integrated planting, the landscape design encircles each home in natural beauty whilst encouraging a vibrant outdoor lifestyle.

Fabric’s rooftop incorporates an array of edible garden beds, promoting sustainable food practises and providing residents with nourishing organic produce. As part of a global effort to help save the honey bee, rooftop beehives will enable resident to harvest their own delicious honey. This will contribute to a healthier ecosystem and increased biodiversity whilst reducing the distance from production to plate and bolstering the local economy.

LANDSCAPED GARDENS

Featuring carefully selected, fast-growing species, Fabric’s plant palette cultivates a thriving garden environment right throughout the year. Incorporating mature trees where possible as well as native species and flowering plants, these revitalising outdoor areas will blossom with very little maintenance.
